Wondering how to get more engagement on Instagram?
If you are marketing your business on Instagram, having a steady flow of fast-acting, organic engagement is a must for growth!
‘Fast-acting engagement’ is engagement that it comes in rapid-fire directly after you hit post!
Building this type of engagement on your Instagram content comes from having a dedicated audience! One who is hanging on your every word and just waiting to consume your content.
It does not come from follow trains and engagement pods!
Not quite at the point of having this type of engagement on your Instagram content?
It takes time, dedication and consistency to build up fast-acting engagement on Instagram.
Maybe you were kinda sorta on your way there but you hit a plateau.
If you feel like you have hit a growth plateau and you are still wondering how to get more engagement on Instagram, you might’ve been tempted to buy likes or even followers.
Hell – there are plenty of daily DMs from other accounts attempting to sell us likes and followers on a daily basis!
Keep your hard earned money right where it is because purchasing likes and followers are no better than follow trains and engagement pods.
These tactics will do nothing for your business on Instagram outside of portraying a false sense of metrics.
Those purchased likes and followers are from ‘click farms’ overseas and they aren’t your ideal clients.
So how do you get more genuine engagement on Instagram from your current followers, potential clients, or anyone with a beating pulse?
A few ways actually, and I’m going to break them all down in this post!
- Revisit your Engagement Strategy
When I hop on a strategy session call with my clients they often bring up a lack of engagement on their content as one of their key concerns.
My first question response to them is typically ….
Tell me a little bit about your current engagement strategy?
Sometimes the answer is usually along the lines of “What’s that”? Or “Well I haven’t been that active lately” or even “I watch other Instagram Stories and answer their polls and questions”
Hold up and a big old ‘time out’ here!!!
Your first stopping point for how to get engagement on Instagram is by having an engagement strategy!
That means that your business has in it’s hands {or on a Google Drive, it’s all good} an in-depth, intentional, customized, and trackable engagement strategy!
Every engagement action you take within the app has to be done with purpose when you are attempting to grow your business on Instagram.
Building an outbound engagement strategy to up-level your business on Instagram.
Instagram is a social media app, we have to keep the social part of presence active in order for it to work.
- Creating Compelling Content
Does your content compel your audience to take an action with your business?
I’m not talking about using CTA’s, i’m not talking about selling to your audience.
I’m talking about creating high-value content that is so relevant to your audience that they are compelled to tack an action item with your business, without being told!
“Ok but yeah, I create content all the time”
I have no doubt that you do and I am sure you are aces at maintaining a presence on Instagram with your content.
But what value is that content to your audience? What are they walking away from your content not having known before?
What are they walking away from your content to think over, implement or take action on?
That is compelling content.
To compel someone with your content is to elicit an immediate reaction from them!
Your content has to resonate so deeply with your audience that it moves or inspires something inside of them.
Does every single piece of content that you put out have to be so high value and so compelling?
No, it doesn’t. In fact, it is purely exhausting to create at this level all the time. It’s much like having your foot on the gas, feeling like if you let up for one second, you’ll crash.
Still, wondering how to get more engagement on Instagram? Creating compelling content is the fastest way to get you there!
- Audit Your Hashtags
So uh, when was the last time you had an in-depth look at the hashtags you use for your Instagram content?
Your hashtags need major on-going TLC forever.
Does that sound like an exaggeration? It’s not
Your hashtags have the full power of drawing in a new audience.
A new audience that is going to decide the second they lay eyes on your content, whether or not they taking an engagement action.
Let me be the first to say, creating three sets of hashtags to dump into your planning app for reuse over & over again, not going to cut it.
If you want your hashtags to work for you by building engagement, you have to put in the time.
Your hashtags have to be relevant to your content every single time you post.
