No, you don’t have to point and dance to get more views on your Instagram Reels!
Yes, you absolutely can if you want to.
Will it take more than that to get more views on your Instagram Reels? Most definitely.

I view Reels as a tool to take what you dislike about Instagram’s platform and turn it around in order to create high visibility with viral-worthy content.
Maybe your reach, conversion and ability to quickly place yourself in front of your ideal audience has gone sideways.
Utilizing Reels to it’s fullest potential can turn all of that around.

Remember when Reels first launched and we couldn’t refresh our feeds enough to see a static feed post?
That has since calmed down a bit. But Instagram’s algorithm is still highly favoring Reels content in the feeds of your followers.
So if your organic reach on feed posts has been on a slow downward trend, then being more present on Reels will boost your overall visibility among your current followers and a new audience.
As with any other type of content that you create and distribute on Instagram, Reels views grow with time & consistency of presence. But, to find the sweet spot of creating Reels that your audience can’t get enough of, that will take some good old fashion testing to find which types of content they value the most.

Here are the 3 basic types of content to create in order to get more views on your Instagram Reels. In order of priority!
- Entertainment
- Edu-tainment
- Education
Here’s where I make the argument that any other type of content would fall into one of these three buckets.
Sharing a personal story? Does it aim to entertain or educate or both?
Are you sharing information on how your audience can benefit from working with your business? Same question, does it aim to entertain or educate or both?
If you can create an entertaining piece of content that relates or ties back to your business and makes people laugh, gold mine!
The key to making this gold mine of content is your relatability factory. How easily does your audience relate to that entertaining piece of content?

You only have between 15 – 30 seconds on Instagram Reels to grab the attention of your audience as they mindlessly scroll, so creating a piece of content that is highly relatable and entertaining is your ‘in’ for getting more views on Instagram Reels.
Instagram rewards your highly viewed content, with more views. It makes total sense and it’s utterly infuriating at the same time.
If you create a piece of content that is continually scrolled past or not engaged with then Instagram deprioritizes its place in the algorithm of your followers.
On the other hand, if you create a piece of content that grabs the attention of your audience and is quickly and easily relatable to them, then they are more likely to take an engagement action.
Those engagement actions by your followers are needed! Engagement actions tell the Instagram algorithm to redistribute your Reels content which pushes your views higher.
