More and more wedding photographers are investing in marketing on their own platforms. Straying away from the old model of paying for leads, visibility, or “exposure” with large-scale publications.

Oof, I heard an echo on the ‘e’ word!

Coming from the former editor of a feature-based wedding blog, I can personally tell you that I have stood by and slowly but painstakingly watched the vendor member/vendor directory business model die a painful death over the last handful of years.

It hasn’t been pretty! It’s left the wedding photography industry in a heap of frustration over where to best direct the marketing budget of their business.

Wedding photographers were paying a premium for listings on nationally recognized publications that were bringing them spammy leads & zero traffic.

Look we all know the story of the urban legend emails of a lead asking to book a family reunion and pay in full upfront…

The business listing that cost you a premium on a monthly basis? Those listings were buried in pages among pages of your competitor’s listings. Making it that much harder for your wedding photography businesses to stand apart from the crowd.

I really want to outrank [this competitor] can you provide me with a strategy that will make my website just as visible as them, if not more?

PS: if any wedding industry blogger, SEO Strategist, Google Expert, or Marketing Agency PROMISES you that they can get your website ranked on Google page 1 in a specific amount of time, run for the hills!! Chances are that they are using spammy SEO tactics such as purchasing backlinks from overseas websites. That practice can and will have your website blacklisted on Google.

▷Your feed posts are sorted in chronological order by the time that you hit the post, not by the time that you added in hashtags.

▷If you wait to post your hashtags you are just pushing your content to those tags at a later time, which is hurting your reach

▷They work in both! It all depends on how you want to format your user experience and catch your audience before you lose them to the scroll hole

▷I could write a novel on the term 'shadowban' - what it meant when we first saw it in 2016 and commonly and misused the phrase has come to be.

▷Low insights do not equal a ban. If you feel that your content is not populating under the hashtags you used 𝗗𝗢 𝗡𝗢𝗧 𝗖𝗟𝗜𝗖𝗞 the hashtags from within your content to check, you will get a false reading.

▷Check from your personal account by typing your chosen hashtags into the magnifier and scrolling to find your content, or have a friend do the same from their account!
