Wondering how to use Instagram’s pinned comment feature?
- Open the comments section of your most recent post
- Scroll to the comment that you’d like to pin
- Swipe left on the desired comment
- Click the pin icon
- Done! Your comment is now pinned to the top of your comments section
But how does using pinned comments on Instagram help you grow your business?
Here are a few ways to use Instagram’s pinned comment feature in order to grow your brand’s presence on Instagram:
1) Pinning FAQ’s
Those frequently asked questions that you always receive about your products or services on Instagram?
Provide your commentor with a well-written response detailing every aspect of their FAQ.
Don’t forget to foresee the typical follow-up questions you receive and include those in your reply too.
Swipe left on the comment you just responded too and pin it to the top of your comments feed!
Voila – built-in customer service right in your feed.
2) Pinning Reviews From Clients
Are you selling in your feed or creating posts with a strong call to action about one of your products or services? #winning
If you really want to kick it up a few notches ask your clients to leave reviews on your post about their experience with your product or service.
Their words of encouragement will help those ‘lurkers’ make the decision about investing with your brand.
Swipe left and pin to top!
Extra added bonus – screenshot their reviews and send them to your IG stories!
3) Using a Pinned Comment to on Giveaway Posts
Are you using or planning to use a giveaway to drum up some new followers, email subscribers, or clients?
There will come a time when you need to indicate that the giveaway has closed and reiterate the rules involved for those who have entered.
Drop all of your information in as a comment on your post and pin it to the top of your comments section so that it will be highly visible for any accounts finding your giveaway after it’s been closed.
4) Captions That Go Over Length
I’m guilty of this one myself!
Do you have a lot to say in your caption about your most recent speaking point?
Instagram only allows 2,000 characters per caption and that includes spaces, emojis, and punctuation.
If your caption is running over length you can use a small note at the end of your caption that says ‘continued in the comments’ before dropping the remainder of your caption there.
Complete your caption in the comments and pin it to the top. This will give your readers a seamless brand experience and keep them engaged with your content.
5) Pin Your Favorite Comment
Ok, number 5 is my personal favorite – just throwing it out there; pinning your favorite comment to the top of your comments section!!
If you have loyal followers who engage with all of your posts this is a great way to say thank you for always showing up for you!
Sometimes my followers will drop a chicken nugget of wisdom in the form of a comment that will give me a major light bulb moment. I can easily share their advice with my audience by pinning their comment.
And what about those comments that turn into threads of replies and conversations? Let others in on the conversation by pinning the original comment to the top of your comments thread and adding a question into the thread!
